Hispano HA-200 Saeta

Last updated on: December 12, 2012

The Hispano HA-200 Saeta was a Spanish-designed and built two-seat trainer and single-seat light attack jet from the 1960s and ‘70s. A total of 117 Saetas of all versions and manufacturers were built for the Spanish Air Force. Many were later upgraded to HA-220 Super Saetas. Also included on this page are those Ha-200Bs license-built in Egypt as the “Al-Kahira“. I believe there were 64 built in Egypt, plus five more built in Spain and immediately given to Egypt, but sources are conflicting and there may have been as many as 90 built in Egypt.

This is a work in progress and any help would be appreciated. Information on these planes is rather difficult to locate online and this work will remain incomplete unless you the readers offer to help me. Please feel free to pass along any information that you might have.

At the end of this page is a list of people who have graciously offered their help. Thank you all very much!
